Called SNAP (Say No and Phone}, the program has proved very successful in the United Kingdom; it encourâ€" ages students to report drug related crimes to the local Crime Stoppers. Waterloo Regional Crime Stoppers is the first in Canada to test the program, which is being launched at three schools â€" Waterlooâ€" Oxford District secondary school in Baden, St. David Catholic secondary school in Waterloo and Jacob Hespeler secondary school in Cambridge â€" in January 2001. Locally, the program will involve _ police, _ Crime Stoppers, school adminisâ€" tration and student counâ€" cils.
