Lucky Canadian ladybugs feast in Florida garden this Christmas n the Indian summer Idays of late October, before leaving Ontario for the sun of Florida, we disâ€" covered hundreds of ladyâ€" bugs sunbathing on the front of our motorhome. A few crawled inside. It was fun to catch them, tell them to "fly away home" and release them. Unbeknownst to us, sevâ€" eral found hiding spots in the motorhome. The warmer temperaâ€" tures, as we drove down Interstate 75, encouraged them to postpone their norâ€" mal winter hibernation. It wasn‘t quite so much fun trying to catch them on the windshield as we drove through 100â€"kilometerâ€"perâ€" hour traffic. Later they became even more of a nuisance by crawlâ€" * INTERIOR DECOR SHOPPE« For Great Gifts to ’ Enjoy All Year... “ â€"CD Racks "‘ â€" Magazine Holders ‘.. â€" Mirrors ,l;â€"g â€" Accent Lamps “.': e â€" Prints " ‘5 .. Each day as we drove farâ€" ther south the weather became hotter and more ladybugs woke up. We released some of our little friends in Michigan, a few in Ohio, several in Tennessee, more in Kentucky and, what we thought should be the last of them, in Georgia. In Fort Myers, Florida we pulled& down our large awning for shade and disâ€" turbed at least one hundred more of the blackâ€"spotted beetles. Fortunately they don‘t bite and their sole food source is aphids and other softâ€"bodied insects that feed on plants. 885â€"1921 OveR 370 SYgRES & SEAVICES CONVENIENT PARKING They don‘t eat fabric, plants, paper or any other household items. In fact, one ladybug can eat as many as 50 aphids a day. A friend of ours who has a lovely garden here at the RV Park has agreed to adopt as many Canadian ladybugs as we can catch. Ladybugs live from three to nine months depending on weather, length of hiberâ€" nation, food supplies and predators. _ One thing for sure, these "ladies" are going to have a different kind of Christmas w A T E ® L 0 0 than if they had stayed back home in Ontario.
