New responsibilities will include assisted housing and homelessness, ambulance services, public transit, and garbage collection. I believe we need to plan wisely so that our resources are put to the greatest benefit. Starting next year, we will be reviewing our long- term plans for the Region. I believe we need to protect a balance between rural agriculture and environmentally-sensitive lands, but at the same time ensure we have serviced, well-placed land to guarantee future growth and investment.
