Historic Rummelhardt school faces Dâ€"Day After being granted one week‘s grace on its May 31 deadline, Waterloo‘s historic Rummelhardt school now has to face its Dâ€"Day. Talks broke down around the 11th hour last week between the Kâ€"W Bilingual school board, owner of the oneâ€"room stone schoolhouse located at 600 Erb St. W., and the Region of Waterloo over some of the board‘s requests. Those requests included that a rightâ€"inâ€"only access be allowed off of Erb Street onto the school‘s property, and a land swap. At press time, the final decision on what will become of the school was still unknown. However, a meetâ€" ing between the board and the regional staff was set to take place Tuesday evening. Many seemed to feel everyâ€" thing was in place to save the school when both the City of Waterloo and the region agreed to spend the necessary $100,000 to designate, preâ€" serve and restore the strucâ€" ture. But the board made it clear waiting any longer to see the other issues resolved is costâ€" ing a fortune, and hindering some of the activities taking place at the new school, located on the property adjaâ€" cent to the old learning facilâ€" ity. Still willing to compromise, however, the board agreed to extend its deadline and hold Schrsiterâ€" SBandrock FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL CGALSE REGAL CAPTTAL GROUP MB Jacqueline A. Papke, P.R.P.
