Installation of Traffic Control Signals at the Intersection of Regional Road #9 (Erb Street) and Beechwood Drive/Gateview Drive City of Waterloo Letters policy I am deeply bothered by an irresponsible story written solely upon the view of a hockey player who was cut. This was exploited because the hockey player happens to be {emale. Chronicle should be ashamed of its story about minor hockey coaches / This letter is in response to the column wrote by Bob Vrbanac. 1 must have missed the front page story on all the other male players that have been cut over the years. At this age group (Midget) it isn‘t one of the dads... it‘s a coach... a person at most part who is there simply because they love the game and the players. Most of the time you can‘t even get the parents to come out and watch. What is the point of the story? To take away the power of coaches to select and run a team? To have teams that are ran and selected by the parents _13;g@?mc:~=}'9&; W;ARM iz and players or newspaper writâ€" ers? To eliminate girls from boys hockey completely because after this story if you were coaching would you take the chance? If it were true that the coaches didnt want her on the team and said a "spare part" why would they take a roaster spot for a spare part? She must have played well enough to be on the team and for what ever the reason the coaching staff felt she was either playing poorly or she was a determent to the team. May I remind you of two things at this time; coaches make decisions for the team and there is no "I" in team! 1 read the story and laughed and thought law suit. The next thing 1 felt angry and sad and thought no wonder we have a hard time getting quality coaches. They spend their valuable time and get this abuse in return. The last and most pitiful story line was the stripper part... Come on these kids are 16 and 17 years old... Have you talked to the complete coaching staff on that point? This is insane and if it was said, it was in jest. The only credible point in the whole story would be the Seott Piatkowski‘s ramblings sound so much like a spoiled child that has had his bottle abruptly taken from him. He claims to not being opposed to change, yet every week he whines about the overwhelming changes taking place all around him. I‘m sure that he would like to return to the NDP free spending days and his security teat. Scott, take some adviceâ€"learn to accept change and help bring the best parts of the new order into peoâ€" ple‘s lives. Stop yer bellyaching! Remember, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Ralph Schippanoski, Waterloo Waterloo Chronicle columnist should quit whining ped teturn of team fees. Both the team and Waterloo minor hockey should pro rate the fee return. After reading the story you should of had the headline "Do gooder does more harm then [sic} good... Again‘!" Shame...Shame on you all! You owe these and all coaches your deepest apologies! John C. Zeller, s Waterloo
