Since r’novmg to Canada from his native England in 1951, Appâ€" leyard has become one of this country‘s most celebrated musiâ€" cians. He has recorded and performed will many music icons, includâ€" ing Benny Goodman, whom he performed with as a soloist from 1972 to 1980. Appleyard has also appeared with Sinatra, Basie, and Flla Fitzgerald, and has toured with his own combos interâ€" nationally, including festivals in Bern, Cork, Germany, Sweden, Holland, England, the US., and Canada He has taken his music to major clubs in the US., including the Blue Note and the London House in Chicago and Basin Street in New York City, and has performed in major concert halls throughout the world.
