The Waterloo Waves Girls Underâ€"12 Rep Team won the Newmarket Tournament, last week, in a soccer shootout. Their strong defensive play saw the girls hold the opposiâ€" tion scoreless throughout the tournament. Goalie Catherine Vanderâ€" burgh turned in another strong performance in the champiâ€" onship stopping two penalty shots to clinch the victory. The Michigan team was no match for the Ghosts as they downed them 14â€"1. it was a solid offensive and defensive display by the Ghosts. Waterlo«w Minor Hockey grads Paul Ballantyne and Adam Kenâ€" nel were selected in the OHL entry draft last weekend. Ballantyne, who played for the Waterloo Triple "A" Bantam and Midget teams was selected by the Soo Greyhounds in the third round. Kennel, who played for the Siskins, was selected by Don Cherty‘s Mississauga Ice Dogs in the 7th round. Two players picked in OHL draft Tricia Barnes paced the Shaleena Clements went 3 for 4 while Dana Rooney and Shannon Fearman both had two hits apiece.Rooney went the distance for the twoâ€"hit vicâ€" tory.
