Â¥ , flew into the airport in one of two Tutor jets this past Friday afternoon, along with three other pilots from Canadian Forces Base Moose Jaw â€" 15 Wing, to take part in the air show. Aviation Day is put on by the Waterloo Wellington Flying Club. Rumpel and his three colleagues put on two aerial shows for specâ€" tators at the airport after their arrival, one late Friday afternoon and one early Saturday afternoon. The fAying demonstrations, all perâ€" hudhdn'hujeu,inchddanv&nw; at approximately 700 km per hour, a couple of loops and a rather draâ€" mkmlidwl‘h Tutor jets are the same airplanes used by the Canadian Armed : Forces worldâ€"famous Snowbirds. About the vertical roll, Rumpel said a Tutor jet pilot flew the airâ€" plane 300 feet above the ground and then pulled it up ."WWW*‘P‘“W'W During the roll, the airplane travelled approximately 8,000 feet straight up. The entire procedure took about 15 seconds. Although a more senior pilot was at the controls during last Friâ€" day‘s and Saturday‘s manoeuvres, Rumpel was in the cockpit with the pilot. He will eventually be able to perform the roll. , "I can do all that stull about 3,000 feet above the ground," Rumpel said about the vertical roll. "But 1 need to learn to bring it down (to 300 feet) for air shows. And that will be a couple of years." wh*m-umwvm he was 17 and became interested in the activity because his mother Renie was learning to fly at the time. He received his flying licence in the summer of 1991, the same year he graduated from Waterloo colâ€" legiate institute. The future pilot then attended Royal Military College in Kingston in 1991 and graduated in 1995. He then went to Canadian Forces Base Moose Jaw later that year to attend Canadian Forces Flying Training School. He graduated this past April.
