ple of tracks were recorded live in concert, sort of â€" they were studio recorded and then Lyell‘s lead vocals and the audience were recorded in concert in bars in Hamilton and Peterborough. "There‘s a lot more magic on this record, you know, more feelâ€" ing. And | like the sound," Lyell says. "One thing I really like is that it was a lot of fun doing this record. We were in the studio just seven days and then out again, so it was great. I hate being in stuâ€" dios â€" it‘s like being dragged by a horse through the mud. I just wanted to get in there and out of there. That‘s when you capture spontaneity â€" when you come in, say what you‘ve got to say, and get out, rather than think about what you‘re gonna say." Lyell says the "jury is still out" as to the success of the new album, but the video for the title track was released to MuchMusic this week and that should push record sales. But whether the album seils well or not, Lyell is happy with it. "I love it," he says. "I think it‘s a great album. Whether it sells or not is another story, but | think it‘s a great album." Ray Lyell performs tomorrow night (Dec. 14) at Stages in Kitchâ€" ener. The event is in support of the Food Bank of Waterloo Region and those bringing a nonâ€"perishable food item will receive $1 off the price of admission. Tickets are $4 in advance.
