ONS io cpnrtath Foxwood professionals Mark Maue and Jamie Allen will be teaming up to offer a unique beginner/refresher golf school beginning April 19. The fiveâ€"session clinic runs Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. from April 19 to May 10 at Maue Golf Centre on King St. N., and wraps up Sunday, May 15 from 4â€"6 p.m. at Foxwood Golf Club. ; The school‘s sessions will be intense, according to Golf school includes video essential ‘ portfolio, especially given the Region in the past few years. One such tournament, the Bernhardt Insurance Golf Classic, has its fourth annual edition July 14 at Conestoga Country Club. All proceeds from the event are directed to Camp McGovern, the Ontario Summer Camp for Big and Little Brothers north of Orangeville. The first three years have resulted in $60,000 being directed for the camp, which allows many Little Brothers the opportunity to enjoy a camping experience they otherwise would never "It‘s just a great tournament," a prominent Waterloo golfer echoed at last year‘s event. "Our committee has an excellent blend, everyone involved really has a solid reason for being there," said Thompson. "Some are involved for the love of the sport or the desire to give something back to the community, while others represent the Big Brother interests for Camp McGovern." Playing no small role in the Classic is the tournaâ€" ment sponsor, Bill Bernhardt of Bernhardt Insurâ€" ance Service. When the seeds of the tournament were planted four years ago, Bernhardt stepped out of the pack to back the event with a fiveâ€"year comâ€" mitment. "Bill really believes in our event, especially the support it brings to the Big Brother organization, and to have that aspect of the event taken care of, really takes a load of our committee so we can focus on other aspects," said Thompson. Far from a passive sponsor, Bernhardt is actively ily and staff also play a big role on tournament day. The Waterloo Chronicle is coâ€"sponsor for the event, and it says here Thompson is spot on when brings. I, like most of the others committee members, have been in it for the long haul, and working with so many motivated, caring people is one of my perâ€" sonal and professional joys. Whether it‘s the fabuâ€" lous work being done to scoop prizes, lasso celebrities, look after the food and fun, plan the logistics, or oversee the entire shooting match, it‘s a class act working together for a great cause. Golfers come to tournaments for competition, for fun, for good times, and to leave their "other world" behind for a day. The people behind the scenes who make that happen, in the dozens of charity events like the Bernhardt Classic, wouldn‘t have it any Maue, and the final session will offer personal video taping.
