The Waterloo Busker Carnival committee has been very busy organizing this event and doing everything possible to ensure that it is as successful as it can be. A unique event has developed and has been nationally recognized (Chatelaine Magazine, April 1992) as an annual festival for Waterloo. This is due to the continued understanding, patience, and enthusiastic participation of everyone associated with the Busker Carmival Thank you UpTown, and a special thank you to Randy Warren, Chairman of the 1992 Waterloo Busker Carnival. The streets of UpTown Waterloo will be brought to life with the Waterloo Buskers Carnival again this year! The dates for the events arg Thursday, August 27 to Sunday, August 30, 1992. The Waterloo Busker Carnival committee has been working very hard over the last eight months and they have put together a great event! Some details for you to keep in mind are: Thursday, August 27 â€" Opening Ceremonies. Starting at approximately 6:45 p.m., there will be a free barbecue (turkey burgers and turkey sausages), potato chips and cold drinks provided. At 7:00 p.m., the formal opening ceremonies will begin, after which the buskers will take over the streets! â€" Friday, August 28 â€" Kid‘s Day with face painting, clowns, and balloon sculptures on site. Performance times are from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m 1200 to 6:00 p.m. A good old fashioned vaudeville show begins at 4:00 p.m. Each of the buskers appearng at the carnival will be performing at a central stage area at King and Herbert Streets. Bring a mat, a blanket, or a lawn chair to sit on and enjoy the show! King St. will be closed from William to Erb (with Herbert remaining open) for the duration of the event. King St. will be closed starting on Thurs. Aug. 27 at 4:00 p.m., and wil be reopened on Sunday, August 30 at 8:00 p.m. Please note that buskers will be performing until 11:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. Please take advantage of all the shoppers who will be UpTown during these extended hours, and consider staying open a little later than usual. As in previous years, the Waterloo Buskers Carnival will be hosting a hospitality tent, as well as an information and souvenir tent, which will be located in the UpTown Court parkette. O.W. Sports â€" is hosting a Rollerblade‘" inâ€"line skating demonstration from 11:00â€"5:00 p.m. The Rollerblade‘" van is bringing in 70 pairs of skates for kids and adults to try out at no charge.. The demonstration takes place in front of the O.W. Sports store at 32 King St. S., UpTown Waterloo. *Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian with proper identification (driver‘s license, credit card).
