After scanning the field of his athletes earlier this season, Bluevale collegiate track and field coach Doug Carmichael knew that his Knights had a chance to repeat as Waterloo county high school track and ï¬eldchamps.ButhofdtMitwmfldbeawinbyincbuand a couple of ticks off the stop watch. As for repeating as Central Western Ontario high school champions, Carmichael decided to reserve his comments untilheuwhowwallhhhnmperfcmodlttbeloullwol. With his team capturing the county title with an 80â€"point cushion over their closest rival, the Knights went on to win the Central Western Ontario meet with 190 points, 24 points over runnerâ€"up Cameron Heights of Kitchener. Bluevale and Cameron also dominated the boys scoring with 133 and 112 points respectively. Waterloo Vikings topped the girls scoring with 87 points while BCI finished with 57 and Cameron had 54. Faced with a computor breakdown at the CWOSSA meet in Kincardine last week, many athletes were denied official times, but Carmichael, with stop watch in hand, had no problem in timing his senior boys 4x100â€"metre record run of 42.7 seconds, slicing .5 seconds off the previous record set by BCI Knights right on track CWOSSA meet was a good day for BCI Knights Pete Cudhea Chronicle Staff Save on all Golf Clubs and Bags in stock. The relay team of Adam Hewson, Chris McFarlane, Mark McVicar and Sean McKillop won the 4x100m, while Neil Cave, Scott Rands, McFarlane and McKillop finished second in the 4x400m event. "I think the highlight of the 4x400m silver was the 47.6 second split run by McKillop. That‘s an incredible time," Carmichael said of the final leg of the race. As a team, they ran 7.5 seconds faster than the previous meet a week earlier and if they‘re running on all cylinders this weekend at the Western Regionals in St. Thomas, they could very well bring home the gold. McKillop and Bluevale‘s Rick Woroch collected 14 individâ€" ual points and shared the senior boys championship. McKillop also won the 100m and 200m events while Woroch won shot put and discus. "He really threw well in shot with a throw of about 14.50 metres while in discus he had three throws with one around 43 metres and the others around 42 metres." One of the athletes to come out of nowhere to take Carmichael and the field by surprise was midget athlete Jason Cave who pointed in every event including a first in long jump, second in the 300m hurdles, third in 100m hurles and fourth in the 4x100m relay team.
