Individual high point trophy winners from the ROW Swim Club were Sean Bartlett in the boys‘ 15 and over age category, Laura Nicholls in the 13 and 14 girls‘ division, and Grahame Jastrebski in the boys‘ 11 and 12 class. Several ROW swimmers swam Youth National times in various The Region of Waterloo Swim Club hosted the Bell Canada Long Course Invitational Swim Meet this past weekend at the Wilfrid Laurier University Athletic Complex. Eleven teams participated in the threeâ€"day event. There were teams from Bermuda and Truro, Nova Scotia in attendance, as well as teams from Ontario. The host club won the team trophy by a wide margin over the events. These athletes, along with other swimmers from the club, will be heading to Regina on May 20th for this National Championship meet. They are: Nell Baker, Sean Bartlett, Shawn Button, Tom Fuke, Jennifer Button, Laura Nicholls, Valerie Walker and Ariadne Three ROW swimmers also came very close to qualifying for Senior Nationals to be held in Brantford in July. Laura Nicholls was a mere .32 seconds short in the 100 metre freestyle, Gaby Sabados needed to be only .4 seconds faster to qualify for the 100 metre butterfly, Valerie Walker missed by only .63 seconds in the 100 metre breaststroke, and Ariadne Legendre was .9 seconds off in the 100 metre freestyle. Head Coach Dean Boles is confident they will all qualify in the near future.
