And while the rolling hills of Boston could pose to be a problem with the European runners, Grinâ€" bergs feels that Butler and other Ontario runners will feel right at Butler‘s soul mate, running mate and longâ€"time friend, Angeâ€" la Schwan, is keeping pace with her. While Butler automatically earned a berth on the World team with her win in Halifax, Schwan finished a close fourth and will be faced with competing in this weekend‘s World Crossâ€"Country trials in Victoria, B.C. along with local runners Heidi Loewen and Krestena Sullivan. "This will be the first time for Angela on a world team. She shouldn‘t have any trouble in qualifying. On the weekend she ‘"We‘re getting very little financial suport and our fundâ€"rais ing projects have fallen short," claims Grinbergs. "Things were okay when we had three or four runners travelling and we could afford that, but now we have a dozen or so travelling, and now we have a bigger pot to draw on." According to TCA head coach Peter Grinbergs, with the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo slashing community funding, the club had to make a move enabling the local runners to still be able to get the neccessary funding it needs to compete on a national and international level. Chronicle Staff A lack of community funding has forced the Twin City ?‘rtglciï¬Ã©lu’lgm Club to affiliate with the Etobicoke Huskies The TCA travelling is 80 per cent of its entire budget of approximately $30,000 to $35,000. According to Grinbergs, the funding offered to the club by Kitchener and Waterloo was turned down because of its Etobicoke affiliation. He noted that even though the club is affiliated with Etobicoke, athletes will train out of Waterloo and will only represent the Huskies in Ontario Track and Field Association events. From an executive standpoint, Grinbergs, who‘s also the head coach, felt he had just too much of a workload and will be able to draw on the expertise of the Etobicoke executive.
