In closing, I would like to say I realize that these are only proposals. However, we must all realize that if we give the P.C.‘s the nod in the next federal election, some, if not all of these policies will become law Ask yourself, is this the mess we want to leave our children? Douglas Eidt Waterloo [ also question the ability of the P.C.‘s to govern this great nation when they reâ€" jected an antiâ€"abortion proposal. Why do we have to keep killing the very people, that if given a chance, would help us build a better Canada? I refuse to believe that Canadians are so poorly educated that they have to resort to abortiion as a means of birth control. Abortion is murder. What kind of morals do these people have to okay such violence? Once again, instead of trying to keep this great nation that our ancestors built together, they give Quebec their blessing to do what they want as far as their union with Canada is concerned. Does our federal government not realize that Canada is not made up of French and English? This great country was built by many immigrants, including French and English. However, at present, the Tories are willing to let Quebec do what they want as far as their future with Canada is concerned. This is a real slap in the face to our native North Americans and to all immigrants who helped build this country over the last couple centuries. Do our federal represenâ€" tatives not realize that if Quebec chooses to leave Canada, we are no longer a great country stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific® The time has come that we all look at ourselves as Canadians, I am not saying we should forget about our ancestory. But, first we should all remember above all else that we are Canadians, all of us equal, all of us striving for a united Canada Recently at the Conservative convention in Toronto, our federal leaders went out of their way to insult the intelligence of the Canadian public. Who do they think they are kidding? Who do they think they‘re kidding? Their application of toxic chemicals to their grass on a regular basis is inconsistent with respect for the Creator. In their wish to have respectable lawns they are setting an example of contempt for the diversity of creation. Yes, this includes even a lowly Churches shouldn‘t be spraying lawns YOU T This is not a small matter to be left to the judgment of custodians or contract mainteâ€" nance workers. I urge the ministers, priests and members of boards to consider the risks and not to add to the billions of pounds of toxins pouring into the Great Lakes. Whatever we put on our grass eventually finds its way to Lake Ontario. This invisiâ€" ble chemical soup is a time bomb for the people, animals and birds who depend on it for their water. The City of Waterloo has greatly reduced its own use of chemiâ€" cals and could offer advice on maintaining a healthy chemicalâ€"free lawn.
