BLOCKED SEWER? CALL 886â€"2310 FOR CLEARING OF BLOCKED SEWERS (FREE DURING NORMAL WORKING HOURS); A VALUABLE SERVICE PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF WATERLOO. This is a headline we hope won‘t be about a Waterloo resident. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, several Waterloo residents are inconvenienced by blocked sewers each year. How do you know your sewer connection is blocked and not just your sink drain? If your sewer connection is blocked, water you are trying to drain from sinks or toilets will not be able to get from your house to the sewer main in the street. This will result in water backing up through a drain in the lowest point in your house, usually a floor drain, laundry sink, toilet or shower located in the basement. If you notice water coming out of any of these fixtures when they are not in use, stop using any of your drains (even upstairs) as this water will only end up coming out in the basement. If you think your sewer connection is blocked, call us! We will help to determine if your problem is a blocked sewer and then dispatch a crew to attempt to clear the blockage, all at no cost to you during normal working hours (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. â€" 4:00 p.m. Afterâ€"hours a flat rate charge of $100.00 (plus G.S.T.) applies, so it is in your best interest to try to wait until normal working hours. We believe this valuable service saves City residents thousands of dollars a year. Should City staff determine the problem to be more than a blocked sewer, the supervisor in charge will discuss possible corrective action with you prior to any work being initiated. If after you have considered all the information above, you think you have a blocked sink or toilet, please call a plumber. REMEMBER, if you think your sewer connection is blocked, call us to arrange for our free service The City of Waterloo encourages all its citizens to complete their Census Canada questionnaires on Census Day. The results of these questionnaires are used by the city to plan for everything from environmental initiatives and water conservation to housing and recrest‘fi'l services. The more accurate the information on the questionnaires, the better the City can plan for and serve its residents. So please take part in Census Day and complete your Questionnaire to the best of your ability. â€" Markets for shiny paper and boxboard are temporarily not available. Therefore, until further notice, the City cannot recycle these materials. We ask that you refrain from bringing shiny paper and boxboard to the depot until further notice.
