(‘ â€"INSIDE CITY HALL The City of Waterloo is gearing up to deal with this emerging change in demand. With the completion of twinning the Albert McCormick Centre, Wednesday and Thursday evenings are dedicated to adult hockey. The Mitsubishi playing fields will open this spring. The baseball field is designed to accommodate adult sloâ€"pitch and fastball. Adult soccer is scheduled for the soccer pitch. In 1992, the Laurel Creek Cricket pitch will be available for adult matches, Senior shinny hockey was introduced in 1989. Plans are underway to introduce a sloâ€"pitch league for over fifties in Kitchenerâ€"Waterl00. Demands for increased adult arts, crafts and cultural programs continue to grow. Evening and weekend sketching and painting classes are filling to maximum. Interest in new experiences is shared with the younger generations. Disappearing skills such as crocheting, knitting or tatting are being revived. The Department of Recreation and Culture faces interesting times responding to the growing population of active adults and older adults, who strive for a high quality of life. 4 The middle age bulge is upon us. Not the one that impedes the view of your new shoes as you cast your eyes downward, rather it is the middle age demographic bulge spreading through the community impacting upon the demand for leisure time activities. This, in turn, brings on a demand that overloads recreational and cultural facilities. Move over, kids, because you are having to share with your parents, even your grandparents. The following children‘s sports groups will be answering questions and registering participants for the ing season. Each of these volunteer organizations control their ommwï¬mmm.h-llynmonlylwlyvlmnmhmï¬ Lock for your sport in the mall ares between Robinsons and K Mart Signs designating each sport will be hanging above the representative sport group.
