[ would like to respond to Rich Chambers‘ letter regarding his experience with the office of Walter McLean Recently, my husband and I encountered an unusual situationâ€"we were not receiving any mail. After many unsuccessful attempts were made to contact the Waterloo Post Office, we decided to contact our Member of Parliament, Walter McLean. Reader says McLean gets the job done My own solution? Mr. Kirkby would do well to read the May 17 Perspective article, where Geoffrey Fellows advises searching for the good in people or else risk ending up like "a snarling wolverine after a threeâ€"day fast." If City Seen‘s role is simply to expose problems, then perhaps the column‘s mandate could be expanded to include some well rsearched, viable solutions. I‘ve always found it is far more difficult to offer realistic answers than to merely criticize. I don‘t deny that the press has a responsibility to identify and draw attention to unresoived issues It‘s also true City Seen is meant to be any opinion prece and is thus freed from the regular practise of reporting merely biasâ€"free facts. But, I do get tired of Mr. Kirkby‘s seemingly endless stream of journalistic hate mail. Surely there are a few worthy citizens or worthwhile causes that merit his attention? However, the placement of Geoffrey Fellows‘ article next to Ian Kirkby‘s City Seen in the May 17 issue served to highlight the one disappointing element I see in the paper. If you recall, Mr. Fellows wrote an article reminding us to look for the good in people. His column page neighbor, Mr. Kirkby, wrote yet another signed poison pen diatribe attacking (this time) the managers of Waterloo Park. 13 King St. South (at Erb) Waterico 886â€"0100 inquire about Yamaha Music Courses l read the Chronicle every week, and for the most part. enjoy the informative way in which local news is presented.
