The Gin Game uses the card game as a basis for life in a seniors‘ home somewhere in the U.S. Fonsia (Cameâ€" ron) and Weller (Renton) strike up a friendship while indulging in their shared passion for gin rummy. As the game progresses, the characters‘ real personalities are drawn out. What unfolds is a tragic comedy about two residents of an old people‘s home. Cameron and Renton have been said to accurately portray the jealousâ€" ies, insecurities, bitter pettiness and even, sometimes, cruelty that the old can show. In the same vein, they also give moving performances revealing how the elderly show kindness and love in the face of adversity.
