Against Guelph Gryphons Thursday, Cecchini, a secondâ€"year player, carried the ball 21 times for 158 yards to help WLU gain a 27â€"20 win. Last year‘s OUAA rookie of the year, he is again one of the league‘s top rushers. Paulo played a strong game in last week‘s tie with McMaster. An OWIAA allâ€"star in 1987, Paulo generated many scoring opportuniâ€" ties in the game despite being marked tightly. TRINITY JEWELLERS QUALITY DIAMONDS Janet McPherson and Blair Falconer ha‘ University of Waterloo athletes of the week team, is being honored for her play during a 3â€"1 win over the University of Guelph. She scored all three goals for UW and helped the team improve its record to 1â€"2. Thanks to a rigorous summer of hard work, McPherson is expected to add offensive power for the Athenas as the team fights for a playoff position. UW plays Western and Toronto this week. Falconer, a fourthâ€"year player with the Warrior rugby team, led his team to a 14â€"8 win over Trent University, a win which puts Waterloo all alone at the top of the Division 2 standings. He is being recognized for his onâ€"theâ€"field performance as well as his leadership abilities. He assisted in setting up two trys.
