Jackshaw finished first in the 100 free, 100 fly and 50 fly and was second in 100 IM. Ellen Scott placed first in the 200 IM, third in the 100 IM, 50 free, 50 fly and fourth in the 100 free at the 25â€"29 age group. Jody Determann Easton (30â€"34 age group) placed first in the 200 and 50 breast and second in the 100 breast. Stephanie MacLelâ€" land finished third in the 50 and 200 backstroke and fourth in the 100 backstroke in the same age Rob Dinel (35â€"39), anchor man on the mixed free relay team, placed first in the 200 free, second in the 50 free and third in the 100 for first in the 1,650 yard frees tyle. Waterloo novice Whalers put the perfect capping on a year of hockey, downing Flamboro in the consolation championship of a tournament in Streetsville. The game actually ended in 3â€"3 tie but Waterloo was awarded the victory by virtue of a 54 shots on goal total in the second overtime period Whalers advanced to the final by defeatâ€" ing Mississauga, Richmond Hill and Streetsville by scores of 3â€"1, 9â€"1 and 2â€"1. Waterloo had been outscored 11â€"9 in a twoâ€" game total goal series with Stoney Creek, thus being relegated from the championâ€" ship round Coached by Reg Madison, Mike Madison, Dave Cressman and Jamie Young, Whalers developed a strong team attitude over the year and improved both defensively and offensively.
