It is hoped after this awareness campaign, that will change. ‘"We‘re (operators) all going to abide by these standards and enforce them," said Byrne, adding that an extensive media support campaign will be used. "That way, we hope in a year from now, everyone will be aware of them." Byrne emphasized the goal of the association is not at all to intimidate parties from enjoying the game; exactly the opposite, he hopes, along with fellow association members, it will lead to greater appreciation of the etiquette and standards that can make the game enjoyable for all. ‘*Some people come out and don‘t realize that if they drink out on the course, they just get a reprimand, but an operator can lose his liquor license. All these rules are set up for the benefit of all the golfers, so that no one‘s enjoyment is ruined. Call it upgrading the standards." GOLF LESSONS "Consider it an education process," said association spokesman Andy Byrne, professional at Cambridge Golf and Country Club, "particularly aimed at the non or infrequent players who may not be aware of the standards at each club." The association, consisting of 13 clubs in the two regions, has dedicated itself to improving the image of golfers in the area, be they ardent players or casual, onceâ€"aâ€"year types. And to do that, the association has established a number of standards that all golfers in the area should be aware of before they toss their clubs in the trunk to head out for the course this year.
