PAGE B6 â€" Helix, one of this country‘s top bands on the international scene, psyches up each time" the group comes ‘"home‘‘ to play before their local fans. Coral Andrews Chronicle Special In 1983 British tabloid Sounds coined Helix "five hairy chested lumberjacks who play expansive and powerful music." Exxcuuuuuuse meeeeee, eh? These guys are NOT lumberjacks; they‘re leatherâ€" jacks and one of Canada‘s top bands on the international scale. So there. ® They‘re our boys and we are proud of ‘em, mate. Helix came home for one night during their current crossâ€"America tour, and the kids were all shakin‘ in Kitchener in a nonâ€"stop Centre in the Square concert bash. The Centre‘s Green Room was jamâ€"packed with family and friends who sauntered backstage to chat with and hug five shaggyâ€"haired music pals, still busy travelling and living the rock ‘n‘ roll dream. That old "There‘s No Rest for Helix" adage lives on. Latest Capital release Wild in the Streets has gone gold in Canada. Video single Wild in the Streets is an impressive liveâ€"performance piece. Romantic ballad Dream On is destined to be a gigantic hit and is currently being aired on all frequencies. This old Nazareth lament proves the solid sentiment of Helix‘s Bâ€"side sound. Brian (Vollmer), Doc (Doerner), Paul (Hackman), Fritz (Hinz) and Daryl (Gray) blasted onto a red brick stage set, front and back whiteâ€"light wizardry and plenty of hijinks. Christmas Treasures! Knar Bangles...designed for today‘s women, imported from Italy in 14 and 18k gold. This season Knar is featuring an exclusive European collection of diamond inlaid bangles. We are the source for very special gifts for that very special someone. 25; No place like home for heavyâ€"metal Helix WATERLOO CHRONICLE â€"9:00 till 9:00 Monday through Friday for your shopping convenience. GOLD BANGLES o OFF Doerner, decked in devil‘s ears, checked the crowd for vital signs, cheering at his and bassist Gray‘s commands. He played the exalted electric variation of the William Tell Overture (Rock On Rossini‘). Flashy choreography and inventive sizzle made this show a Wild in the Streets blowout, proving Helix‘s great knack for professional showmanship. Note drummer Hinz‘s snakeskin moon to the house! Vollmer somersaulted, lunged, leaped and even ran around the aisles to the front row mezzanine as fans shook hands and smiled approval. The frenzied frontman sang Gimme Gimme Good Lovin‘, asked the Centre What It Was Bringing to the Party, when those Kids Were All Shakin‘. Helix also demonstrated their flair for theatre, with Vollmer‘s mighty rendition (it would have been stronger if the sound had been less muddy) Dream On and the dramatic Deep Cuts the Knife. Written by Vollmer, deep cuts the song. The frizzy five gave hardcore fans some Heavy Metal Love while whimsically deciding if this gal would be choice to introduce to mom and dad. Coming home is always a rare treat that Doc, Brian, Daryl, Paul and Fritz never forget. "It feels so good to be home again. From the whole band," bellowed the good Doctor in glee, "you are all great. You‘ve been a blast." They may play England, Germany, Italy, Sweden, the States but, for Helix, there‘s no place like home. 1087 Designers.
