The appointment to the Supreme Court of Ontario of one of the lawyers hired by the city to investigate its liability in sharing the costs of coal tar removal at the Waterioo City site will result in only one legal opinion being presented to council next Monday, notes a press release from Mayor Marjorie Carroll‘s office. Council will also receive the results of two appraisals of the lands that the city is proposing to sell to CN Real Estate. All three opinions will be discussed ‘""in camera‘ and will not be open to the public and media. At the meeting council will ‘"consider the approval of the bylaw to authorize the execution of the coal tar settlement agreement with CN Real Estate®‘ notes the release. The outside appraisals were sought after public outcry at the lack of a written evaluation for council members of the proposed deal.
