Writing children's books seems a natural move for Sockan. who taught elementary school in Waterloo county for many years. "Even when l was quite young I always knew what I wanted to do: teach and write. I used to round up all the kids in my neighborhood and read to them. It's just taken me a little longer to get into writing." I hope it will be a comfort and a support for diabetic children," said Sockan. The book is based on a true story-that of Sarah Somer, Kitchener, a young diabetic who, one year. did distribute her Hal- "it's very exciting for me to see that dream realized after all these years.
