Besides being 02 against Gueiph Royals, a Halpern Division team they will not meet again in the regular season, Tigers have lost in each of four meetings with Kitchener Panthers in the Hamel Division and the teams will meet two more times. Panthers beat Tigers 15â€"10 Sunday night at Jack Couch Park after winning 8â€"1 the night before at Bechtel Park. Last Wednesday, Tigers won 16â€"7 over the Red Sox in Brantford. Tigers showed some character on Sunday night, fighting back from an 11â€"1 deficit to come within one run. But Panthers shut them down with four runs in the eighth and two perfect innings of relief pitching from John Bilawey. This may sound like a jinx but Tigers‘ field manager and first baseman J.D. Yari doesn‘t think s0. ‘"We‘re going to beat them," said Yari. "As a matter of fact 1 hope we see them in the "We‘re not pushing any panic button," said Yari. Bilawey‘s strong relief effort might have been enough to shut down Tigers but Brad Boomer sealed the win with a twoâ€"run homer in the eighth before Rob Froese hit a runâ€"scoring double. Froese eventually scored on a wild pitch from Waterioo reliever John McDade. Tigers did most of their damage in the sixth inning as they chased Panthers‘ John Bell from the mound with a twoâ€"run homer from Nick Ramunno and a threeâ€"run shot from Yari. In the same inning, Dave Toulouse hit a twoâ€"run homer off Todd Schimoller, Bell‘s replacement. Toulouse also singled for one run in the second and two more runs in the seventh. Tigers‘ only run in Saturday‘s game came in the third inning when Jody Pfaff doubled and scored on a single by Nick Noonan. Panthers‘ catcher Marty Quincey had a good night at the plate with a twoâ€"run double in the third. In the seventh, he singled in one run and Jim Taylor scored from third on the same sequence when Quincey became involved in a rundown. Winning pitcher Kevin Curran threw an eightâ€" Wednesday in Brantford, Tigers scored six runs in the third and eight in the fourth. Bob Laforest had a threeâ€"run homer and Bob Thrower had two doubles and a single. Toulouse had a double and two singles. Noonan, the winning pitcher, allowed nine hits. Tigers travel to Stratford tonight to meet the Hillers. They host the Red Sox Sunday at 2 at Bechtel Park in a game that will be videoâ€"taped by Rogers Cable TV .
