Herb, flower and vegetable garâ€" dens will be planted over the three day weekend and staff will be on hand to demonstrate c1914 tools and methods. Doon Heritage Crossroads, the restored ‘rural Waterloo County village c1914‘ and Museum is about to open for the 1987 season â€" its 30th in operation! Beginning May 2, visitors will find costumed staff performing typical domestic, trade and comâ€" mercial activities of a bygone era in the restored buildings, including homes, a dry goods and grocery store, post office, tailor, blacksmith and harness shops of the village. While the ‘villagers‘ go about their tasks on a daily basis â€" special seasonal activities have been planned for each weekend in May. May 2 and 3, visitors may see and participate in typical Spring Housekeeping rituals taking place in and outside the homes and shops. Each day at 2 p.m., children (over 10 years) may participate in workshops where they learn how to make a scarecrow and birdfeeder.
