MINOR BANTAM CHAMPS Mutual Life and Manufacturers Life, both of Waterloo, are among 33 Ontario companies receiving corporate sector citations for their support of amateur sport in the province. ROW also nominated Manufacturer‘s Life (and its predecessor, Dominion Life), for its sponsorship of the the club for the past several years. The support started with the donation of the annual Dominion Life Award for the outstanding swimmer in the club‘s masters proâ€" gram. _ For the past three years the annual ROW short course invitational meet has been sponsored by Manufacturer‘s Life and the company gave the club $10,000 in July. Mutual Life was nominated by the Region of Waterloo Swim Club for its sponsorship of swim meets the past eight years. ROW‘s long course swim meet has drawn up to 12 teams from Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia and has involved all levels from novice to world record holder. Mutual Life has also attended the club‘s annual award banquets and provided technical assistance for its publications. Capturing those moments for our readers, Chronicle staffers Richard O‘Brien, Mark Bryson and Melodee Martinuk used the same formula â€" skill, teamwork and creativity â€" to produce an outstanding photostory that recently was judged Best Photo Layout in the 1986 Ontario Community Newspapers Association Editorial Premier Awards competiâ€" tion. In March 1986, Ed Lukowich‘s Alberta team combined skill, teamwork and creativity to win the coveted Labatt‘s Brier Curling Championship in Kitchenerâ€"Waterloo. We‘re sure Eddie and the boys won‘t mind sharing the winner‘s podium with us. He‘d likely be proud, knowing that our team, just as his did, finished on top for one very good reason. We gave it our best shots. 465 PHILLIP ST.
