Heaven 17 has always been one of the more interesting electroâ€"funk outfits but here they lightweight by some standards, "Contenders" and "If I Were You"‘ show real artistic growth. Compared to the sometimes excessive synâ€" thetic dromne of earlier work, the wreckless swing of these songs is a welcome change. Heck, there‘s even some real drums‘! The band m completely abandon its ornate R&B s but the added bounce and even some politicizing bring about a new dimension. While not groundâ€"breaking, it‘s a pleasant.diversion from a number of Heaven 17‘s more dour contemporaries.
