Friday, April 3 at 1:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 4 at8 p.m. Pump Boys and Dinettes is a Broadway show that got its unusual start in a New York City steak house. This musing blend ofatssorted music (country, blues. gospel and rockabilly) blended with the tale of life in a roadside diner and gas station, soon had Broadway audiences and critics alike singing its praises. Principal creator Jim Wann and partner Mark Hardwick Pump Boys and Dinettes rolls into Humanities About the same time, Wartn's wife, Cass Jdorgan, and her friend iriirrriar, were devel- oping a cabaret act about the "Dinettes," a couple of sisters called Cupp who run a roadside eatery called The Double Cupp Diner. Gradually the foursome saw the possibility of putting their ideas together, and Pump Boys and Dinettes was born. in the play, the values of friendship and were performing at a popular Manhattan restaurant when, for their own amusement, they took to wearing gas station uniforms and singing original numbers about life along the nation‘s highways. life's simple pleasures come to life through the comical interac- tions of four gas station jockeys and a pair of waitresses who work at a roadside stop.
