Kiwanis Club of Rockway Golden K will hold a 10th anni- versary party Feb. 20 at Woo1ners, Waterloo. Rockway Golden K began Feb. 24, 1977 with 31 charter menr bers, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Kitchener-Waterloo. It is part of a world-wide service organization made up of about 8,100 clubs located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, Europe, the Far East and the Pacific area under the umbrella of Kiwanis lntema- tional. The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. with a social hour and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Joachim Zeurich, this year's president, will preside. The Rev. Roger W. McCombe, Chairman of the Classic Department, In- gersoll District Collegiate Insti- tute, and outstanding writer, speaker and raconteur. will be the guest speaker. His subject will be “Dumbness. Diets and Donkeys - A Response to the Insane World." Rockway Golden K is made up of retired men who are living proof that it is possible for persons to retire "to" something rather than Just "from" some- thing. Its members serve the community in projects such as Meals-on-Wheels, visiting the sick, providing transportation where needed, the Kiwanis Music Festival, an annual Citi- zenship Court, and contributes to a number of other worthy proj- ects in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. It is perhaps best known for its Pre-Retirement Course held at Rockway Centre every spring and fall. To no surprise, Mayor Marjorie Carroll tops the list of elected officials with a 1986 salary of $26,994.51. The city's eight aldermen each cashed in to the tune of $8,030.37., bringing the total remuneration to a price tag of $91,237.47. Dr. John A. Weir, president of Laurier, said that shortly after Dr. Taylor's death the university established an endowment to provide 81.000 annual scholarships in memory of Dr. Taylor for each of the three undergraduate faculties (arts and science, music, and business and economics), and a $1,500 scholarship for students in the graduate faculty. A number of scholarships have been established at Wilfrid Laurier University in memory of Dr. Neale H. On his retirement, the university honored him with the title of president emeritus. to 2,748.93. Other expenses for Aid.
