"Last season we only played a couple playoff games and got beat out by Elmira Sugar x‘w.n Smith had about 16 goals in 23 games played for Winter Hawks, then sat out before obtaining his release. In Waterloo, he was reunited with former Winter Hawk linemate Jeff Neumann and he scored against Guelph B‘s in his first game as a Siskin. Also on Smith‘s line is Bob Rintche, a recent acquisition from Conestoga College and Brill hopes the line will give Siskins more offence. Smith said Winter Hawks acted quickly when they were sure he wanted a release. "It took (only) about a weekâ€" andâ€"aâ€"half before things started to happen. They (Winter Hawks) were understanding about it." ‘Hockey has always been part of Landry Smith‘s environment since his father has worked his way up the ranks as a coach after his playing days and he‘s also been technical director of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Assoâ€" ciation. Already this season he‘s been to New Jersey a few times on weekends to visit his father. Smith didn‘t score on Sunday night at the Waterloo arena as Siskins played host to Kitchener Ranger B‘s, but Rintche had a goal in that 42 win. Larry Rucchin, Dominic Niro and Rob Hunter had the other Waterloo goals. _ Dan Boyd and Steve Donnelle replied for Kitchener. _ _ _ Siskins : also played Friday night in Listowel and shut out the Cyclones 4â€"0 behind the . goaltendâ€" ing of John Davenport.
