Mail items to Box 898, Waterloo, Ont. I was selling Lions Club tickets on a car raffle a few years ago when an old chap came up and bought a ticket. He said he always bought a ticket with his friend, Harry. He said Harry was lucky and won the car one year. However, he felt he was luckier than Harry now. I said, "How come?" The old man replied, ‘"Well, Harry died and I‘m still alive." A young man with a purpose is Chris Stumpf of Ellis Cres. He‘s an excellent drummer who can sit in with any Rock & Roll band. However, you‘ll find him most often featured with the Waterloo Regional Police Band. Chris is combining his love of music with his law enforcement interests. He‘s registered at Conestoga College where courses in criminoloâ€" gy are his main subjects. We were taiking to Jim Gray, the recently retired Waterioo Region Chairman, at a holiday social. Jim says that he and his wife are leaving shortly for two months in Bradenton, Florida. Next June they will fly to the British Isles to tour the area and visit his hometown, Belfast. Jim graduated from Queen‘s University in Northern Ireland and then came directly to the Kâ€"W area and joined Frank Voisin‘s Construction company. Later he got involved in municipal politics. We had relatives in town over the holidays and we took them on a tour of The Seagram Museum. They were fascinated with all the related industries that are involved in the spirit‘s business. The children were intrigued with the fiveâ€"minute video stories on the making of white Oak barreis, the glass blower creating new botties, and the harvesting of cork from trees in Portugal. Peter Melrose tells us that there is even more to come with additional artifacts from the wine country of California. The tour is free and afterwards you can have lunch or dinner there. with Ted Rooney 1 0 W N In black leather work apron ‘leader of the plaque‘ Steve Martin as Audrey‘s biker semiâ€"sadist dentist boyfriend Orin Scrivello, is seen in one of the funniest screen roles of his career. Greene and Moranis bring this sassy plot to life, but several cameos qualify Little Shop of Horrors for cultâ€"classic hall of fame status. Elien Greene as Audrey (who played the same role on Broadway) sets new trends with her irresistible squeeks, yeliow and black polkaâ€"dot shoes, and Better Homes and Gardens philosophy on life. Green is absolutely adorable in Horrors highlight Somewhere That‘s Green, as she dreams of married bliss with her little Seymour. Audrey I is another Mushnik Flower Shop employee. A buxom, blonde comparable to a Brooklyn Betty Boop with a lisp. Small, sweet and inconspicuous in its Maxwell House tin, Audrey II draws immediate attention to Mushnik‘s and sales automatically increase. Wealth, fame and fortune is thrown at Seymour‘s feet, but the botanical monstronsity is out for blood. Audrey II grows bigger and bigger, the mean green monster from Outer Space planning world conquest, in this sparkling musical romp now at Frederick Mall Cinema. Rick Moranis (Ghostbusters, Second City fame) is wonderful as Seymour Krelborn, adept in nerd roles, including the invincible schmuck Louis Tulley in Ghostbusters and Diane Lane‘s bookâ€" worm boyfriend in the horrific Streets of Fire. Little Shop of Horrors is going to make Moranis hot film property in °87. One day during the total eclipse of the sun, Seymour happens upon a botanical phenomenon stuck in with the zenias for $1.95, ‘"a deadly threat to the earth‘s very existence." He calis the plant Audrey II. Sigh‘ Seymour Kreliborn will do anything to impress Audrey I‘ Directed by Frank Oz, this film has camp but not contrite written all over it from the opening chords. It‘s a wacky tale set in the "seemingly most innocent and unlikely of places." Mushnik‘s Flower Shop, Skid Row. Seymour Krelborn, is a nice wishyâ€"washy loser of a guy, a born klutz who works at Mushnik‘s and collects strange plants as a hobby. Coral Andrews Chronicle Special In 1987, Little Shop of Horrors, based on Roger Corman‘s story of manâ€"eating plant, is an onâ€"screen hit, heralded as The Rocky Horror Picture Show of the ‘80‘s. In 1960, Little Shop of Horrors was an offâ€"Broadâ€" way smash. Bill Murray (Ghostbusters, Meatballs) is equally Little Shop of Horrors delightful cult movie for the grownâ€"up gang Monday, 16 February 10 â€" atre Wednesday, 18 February White. 8:00_ us Humanitie Theatre musi Matinee: TueS, 18 Feb., 1:30 pMâ€" , that f This runaway hit of the Alberta Fringe Festival nadiana Ni ('., a o takes a humor0U48 look at the ““rl:;:d boy in §oes PR C mz "Canuck" Who ever yeal to be 8 *h ( W h A cloud K: ? ,/ \ 4, i hockey staf V .Q\» Es L. It‘s Suppertime, Feed Me and Mean Grten Monster from Outer Space feature former Four Tops frontman Levi Stubbs as the infuriated overgrown, overrated, piece of troubleâ€" some frontâ€"window shrubbery in a man versus plant full grown grand finale. hilarious as dental patient Arthur Denton who craves a ‘nice slow root canal‘. John Candy (Splash, Volunteers, Summer Rental) adds his own brand of mayhem as Skid Row Radio jock Weird Wink Winkerson. Vincent Gardenia plays the illâ€"fated Mr. Mushnik, and Jim Belushi, so memorable as Bernie the Neanderthal in About Last Night, cameos as a badgering public relations ghoul who wants to put the ‘vegetable‘ in every household. Howard Ashman‘s score is hot, featuring a female r and b Skid Row chorus, and many catchy lyrics set to the best in bopâ€"sheeâ€"bop, or just plain good old rock and roll. â€" The performance will be in St. Matthew‘s Lutheran Church, and the brass will utilize the church‘s gallery to perform some of the gloril;ms antiphonal music of Giovanni Gaâ€" rieli.
