Wilfrid Laurier hockey Golden Hawks went into reverse in one sense over the weekend in Kingston as they skated to an 11â€"6 win over Royal Military College Redmen on Saturday. . _ The night before, Hawks had tied 66 with Queen‘s Golden Gaels in another Ontario Universiâ€" ties Athletic Association contest. Hawks usually have a strong finish against the weaker teams in the OUAA, but on Saturday they jumped into a 7â€"1 first period lead against Redmen and were outscored 5â€"4 over the remainder of the contest. Another uncharacteristic thing about Hawks‘ recent performance is the fact that they‘ve allowed more goals â€"â€" 17 in three games â€"â€" than coach Wayne Gowing feels comfortable with. ‘"*We‘re not Elaying as consistently as we‘d like," said Gowing, "but it‘ll come. We‘re not playing well as a team in our own end of the ice." Warriors beat Laurentian Voyageurs 10â€"5 on Saturday night and 6â€"3 Sunday afternoon in a city where two years earlier they had one of their worst weekends in Ontario Universities Athletic Associaâ€" tion hockey. After a successful weekend in Sudbury Universiâ€" ty of Waterloo Warriors were able to look back to where they‘ve been in order to see where they‘re going. â€" â€" O "I was sort of measuring where the hockey team has gone in two years in comparison to Laurenâ€" tian,"‘ said Warriors‘ Don McKee, noting that Warriors had lost 18â€"5 and 11â€"2 on that particular weekend. McKee did not coach Warriors at that time, but last year he coached them to a win and a loss against Laurentian. ‘"We‘ve reversed the setting on Laurentian," said McKee. "It shows me that we‘re going in the Warriors sweep Voyageurs Puck Hawks start quickly Shaun Reagan and Peter Black each scored twice for Hawks while single goals went to Terry McCutcheon, Doug Marsden, Greg Puhalski, Dan Marsden, Bob Dean, Scott McCulloch and Brad Sparkes. right direction." Warriors‘ fiveman ‘"Orange Crush" unit, conâ€" sisting of forwards John Dietrich, John Goodman and Dan Rintche and defencemen Andrew Smith and Dave Cole, was prominent in the victories. _Steve Molaski and Shaun Wisniewski each scored twice for RMC. Singles went to Mark Thietke and Bill Harris. Each of the forwards had one goal in Saturday‘s game in which Steve Linseman scored twice. Jeff LeClair, Steve Girardi, Dan Tsandelis, Scott Dick Last Wednesday, Hawks travelled to London and lost 52 to Western Mustangs. But they lost more than the game because goalie Chris Luscombe was hit in the throat on a slapshot by Jim Quinn. Luscombe was taken to hospital where a tracheotomy was performed and isn‘t expected to play again until after Christmas. and Ken Buitenhuis also scored. Hawks have two home games at the Waterloo arena. Thursday, they play host to Ryerson Rams at 7: 30 and on Saturday Laurentian Voyageurs are the visitors in a game starting at 7. Sunday, Girardi scored two power play goals on a line with Linseman, who also scored with the man advantage. Dietrich scored late in the second period to break a 2â€"2 tie and Dennis Wigle and Dick were the other scorers. Warriors host Queen‘s Golden Gaels Friday at 7: 30 and York Yeomen Sunday at 3: 30. Both games will be played at Columbia Icefield.
