School trustee Mel Barrie is also a deputy constable in the local police force. The Sorrel Place resident was sworn in when he joined the Police Chorus. This fine singing group has been heard locally at many functions. This past summer the police officers were invited by Expo 86 to be featured at the Vancouver pavilion bandstand. Mel says the gift of $1,000 by Waterloo Council to defray part of the travelling costs was most appreciated by the officers. We understand that the group now plans to do something in return for our city. It was nice to see the children of the crisis center in St. Agatha Village being recognized once again by the insurance agents of Waterloo County. The eighth annual Poor Boy's Luncheon with the standard fare of beans and wieners was served up to help the youngsters. During Oktoberfest, Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre will present Maximillian Beetle, a colorful light-hearted romp which promises to delight children of all ages, as Maximillian and his friends explore the world beyond the window sill, as the tale begins in the garden and the imagination. Based on an idea with music and lyrics by Greg Swanson, from a book by Larry Zacharko (both artists come from Toronto and are coming to see this KWLT show), Maximillian Beetle (played by Aaron Solomon) meets the Amber the Butterfly (Cindi Lynch) and instantly likes her. When Amber accidentally drops _ her scart, Maximillian is determined to find Amber and return it to her. Tina Sweeny (Scarlet Ladybug), Chuck Peeren (Barney Fly), Aaron Solomon (Maximillian Beetle) and Cyndi Lynch (Amber) star in the Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre's upcoming production of Maximillien Beetle. Chronicle sun In the process, Maximillian meets a menagerie Maximillian Beetle a light-hearted romp of characters including an ant scout Jamboree, a ladybug, Tina Sweeney, who owns a beanery, a bee that has hayfever, and baddie Barney the Fly played by KWLT regular Chuck Pereen. As Maximillian’s quest continues he finds himself falling into many more misadventures. along his fun-filled way. Maximilllan Beetle is being presented Oct. 10 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. ll, 12, 13 and 18 all 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., with all shows at KWLT's Princess St. Studio in Waterloo.
