of Waterloo can taketh away then so too can the City of Waterloo giveth back. At least that‘s what local apartment and condominium owners are hoping. So with scrolls in hand containing the names of "a large number of taxpayers‘‘ who agree with their cause, a representative group of apartment and condo owners will attempt to help city council see the light and bring back a garbageâ€"rebate system which Waterloo has religiously paid to owners of multiâ€"residential buildings. But unlike the $10â€"perâ€"unit, perâ€"year rebate which the city stopped paying July 1, the large delegation expected to pack Waterloo‘s counâ€" cil chambers next month will be asking for a rebate of slightly over $15 per year, says Veronica Warner of the Kâ€"W Condominium Association. We just want to be rebated for the service we don‘t receive," said Warner. Under Waterloo‘s new plan, condo, townâ€" house and apartment owners pay an assessâ€" ment for public garbage service, yet are required to contract a private collector. By ALLTHE HOT WATER YOU NEED â€" FOR YOUR HOME TEAM. Group hopes to alter city stand on garbage rebates Efficient electric water heaters hold up to 40% more hot water. With up to 40% more storage than gas, electric water heaters are clearly the top performers in their league. That means more hot water for your home team, and less chance of runouts. The rebate was utilized by 95 per cent of the owners in 1985. Some owners are even predicting tenants will see an increase in rents to offset the loss of revenue. > Spearheaded by Ald. Andrew Telegdi, a strong opponent to the city‘s move, the protest campaign got underway last Wednesday night at Woolner‘s Lodge as more than 20 owners met to discuss their strategy. Following useful discussion the owners decided to petition thousands of tenants and landlords and encourage them to ‘"pack the council chambers‘‘ when the matter goes before aldermen again. ‘‘They‘d (council) be crazy not to change their minds. There are a lot of taxpayers and voters who are counting on it," said Warner. The 220â€"member Waterloo Regional Apartâ€" ment Management Association will also send a delegation of support as will a local coâ€"operative group. « Kitchener, which currently rebates $7 perâ€" year, perâ€"unit, is scheduled to consider dropping it at their Oct. 22 council meeting.
