And that question is: How long before anyone notices an imâ€" provement in Warriors, who went winless in seven games last season? An unkind schedule has Warâ€" riors meeting OUAA champion University of Western Ontario Mustangs and the runnerâ€"up Wilâ€" frid Laurier Golden Hawks in their first two league games after an exhibition matchup against an American college team and Warriors will have to get through those games without injuries to key personnel if they‘re to show a marked imâ€" provement. _ Certainly, Warriors will have many rookies in their lineup following accelerated recruiting by McKillop and Ron Dias, one of his assistant coaches, during the off season. ‘‘We certainly put much more effort into recruiting," said McKillop. ‘"We had to become more competitive and that was our singular goal." Warriors will need a vast improvement offensively and they hope Richard Chen, a much sought after wide receiver from Burlington, will help in that area along with returnees Chris Maecker and Bob Barnard. McKillop is also enthusiastic about running backs in his camp. They include returnee Mike Roâ€" pret and rookies Jim Mitchell, Orval Beckford, Brian Abele, Beck Mason and David Havers. ‘"*We have the six best running backs we‘ve ever had at this school," said McKillop. Trying out at quarterback are Brian Lehnart and Mike Wright along with Steve Robertson and Pat George. Returning to the offensive line are 6‘1" centre Mike Martineau and 6‘4" tackle John Bamford. Defensive linemen back from last season include Scott Ryan and Dave Dobrindt. Dave Shaw returns to the linebacker position after an outstanding rookie seaâ€" son to be joined by recruits Steve Alfano and Michael Lance. Joe Kilby, Bohdan Washchuk, John Williams and Andy Adamsky are in the defensive backfield. Warriors open with an exhibiâ€" tion game at Wilmington College, Ohio, on Saturday.
