Happy birthday, Canada! Looking and sounding like the Beaties, 1964 vtirred up great musical memories for many at Tuesday‘s Canada Day celebrations. How does Waterloo celebrate Canâ€" ada Day? In just about every way you can "imagine â€" with balloons and clowns and music, not to mention a challenge to set a world record for the la(xl'gest Twister game and elephant rides. Thousands of Kitchenerâ€"Waterloo residents converged on University of Waterloo Tuesday for the dayâ€"long birthday bash, which concluded at dusk with a spectacular fireworks display over Columbia Lake. _ _ Activities were organized by the Waterloo Canada Day Committee, composed of representatives from the university and wider community, and received the financial support of the Kâ€"W business community and federal Secretary of State. Do o Obviously, as these photos show, great time was had by all. Sixâ€"yearâ€"old Julle Glazer of Watericoo had her face painted to sapruce up for the birthday party. Lots of clowns were on hand to entertain younger partyers, like Waterâ€" loo‘s Andrea Hildebrand.
