He was a double winner at a meet where double winners aren‘t that unusual. But how many athletes, if any, can say they‘ve won two individual events in as short a time as he did? Over the noon hour the Waterloo collegiate student was in the senior boys triple jump rotation. After a jump of 13.22 metres he dashed over to the 110 hurdles and won in 15.4 seconds. Running at a record pace was Blueâ€" vale‘s Lisa Kueneman, who has been a member of the Kâ€"W Track Club for over a year. Kueneman tied one record by winning the senior girls 100 in 11.9 and set WCiI‘s Vail Smith won the junior girls long jump with a distance of 5.05 a record of 24.9 while winning the 200. She was second in the 400 in what was nearly a dead heat with Donalda Dupree of Saugeen. Both runners pushed each other and finished in a record pace of midget glfl; jéielin at the Central Western Ontario high school track and field meet Thursday in Brantford. WCI had three other first place finishers as Janice Awad won the midget girls javelin with a throw of 31.92, Val Smith WATERLOO CHRONICLE, WEDNESDAY, spanned 5.05 metres to win the junior girls long jump and Paula Schwan won the midget girls 3,000 in a record time of 10:31.4. Other WCI athletes advancing to regionâ€" al competition today and Thursday in London include Steve Nossis (junior boys triple jump), Doug Malloy (senior 1,500), Hardip Binning (senior hurdles) and Elias Mulimootil (junior 200 and 400). Schwan will compete in the midget girls 1,500 as well as the 3,000 and Janet Neu will be in the midget 3,000 as well. From Bluevale, Benj Litke will compete in the midget boys 100 hurdles and other midget boys include Kevin Bater (800) and Chuck Haase (long jump, triple jump). Junior competitors include Stephâ€" anie Laurence (100), Bob Plate (long jump), Brad Hyde (discus) and the 4x100 relay team of Sujeeth Syed, Chris Boettger, Dave Keller and Steve Chapesâ€" kie. Bluevale seniors advancing to the reâ€" gionals include Chris Malthaner (pole vault), Terry Strub (100), Gloria Kiefer (long jump), Chris Wood and Ron Sprung (400) and Rick Wooten (3,000). Kueneman and Kiefer are part of Bluevale‘s senior girls 4x100 team that has also advanced after winning in Brantford in 50.9. Bluevale‘s 4x100 relay team of Strub, daSilva, Sprung and Hyde will also compete, as will the 4x400 team of daSilva, Sprung, Hyde and Winston Lewis.
