Coral Andrews Chronicle Special Margo Smith and her fabulous feet have done it again. Each year Smith, mastermind and ‘feet‘ behind Mr. Bojangles Dance Studio, wonders how she will top the year before. But over the past few years this 500â€"foot family of the Bojanâ€" gles dance collective has perâ€" formed together as a group be it Junior, Intermediate, or Senior. The real aim behind Bojangles is to teach the children responsiâ€" bility and dedication to the craft. The beauty of this learning experience is encouragement and support the youngsters give each other as a positive result of the process. The essence of spirit in this company grows stronger with every performance. This year‘s theme was no exception with Alice in Wonâ€" derland and old Broadway faces as the cast performed Cleaning Up Broadway, which certainly cleaned up on entertainment value for a hot spring evening at UW Humanities Theatre. The show was jamâ€"packed with punch and pizazz from the irreâ€" sistible threeâ€"andâ€"fourâ€"yearâ€"olds as precious pink bunnies in Cottontail Blues, to the awardâ€" winning Birdland and the Senior dance contingent. T e a c hers / c h ore o â€" graphers/dancers Margo Smith, Sandy Hodgins, Kim Kay, Kathy Ostrom and Lois Blair, have had a sensational season ending with this yearâ€"end recital (which wraps up tonight) the result of endless time, energy and devoâ€" tion. Bojangles is flying high with Birdland and won best group performance and best original costume design at the Peel Music Festival with a mark of 99 out of 100. After seeing this dazzling spectacle, it makes you wonder why they lost one mark at all!! a LEISURE $HAN â€"RLL _ rurmrrure 118 KING ST. N. The cosâ€" tumes were a hot pink with blinding silver sequin trimming for a visual kaleidoscope of color. Smith and company design and research ‘every costume, and spend months before the show involved in this timeâ€"consuming task. The behindâ€"theâ€"scenes Bojanâ€" gles team has boundless energy and worked diligently to ensure the whole show ran smoothly from set design to those crucial splitâ€"second costume changes!!‘ In past seasons sound quality has marred this show, but this year the sound, lighting, enâ€" trances and exits proved effecâ€" tive, wellâ€"paced and imaginaâ€" tive. Melinda Gastmeier made a perfect Alice for Alice in Wonâ€" derland as she scurried to and fro, her character completely in synch with her dancing contemâ€" poraries. Cleaning Up Broadway providâ€" ed the enthusiastic audience with the opportunity to clean up their own vocal chords and sing along as the children danced to some of Broadway‘s finest melodies. David Entwistle was a credible Huck Finn, in a fiveâ€"dance porâ€" tion about life on the Mississippi as the girls warned him he‘d ‘never go to heaven‘ and the boys joined him for I, Huckleberry, Me. La Cage Aux Folles gave the Bojangles daddies a chance to strut their stuff in sideâ€"splitting drag as the show‘s finale. w w m c t n n ons im WALL‘S PIANO & ORGAN HOUSE LTD. 183 Ottawa St. 5.
