"Some of our players have played soccer before, some not," said Caenen. "We're in the same boat as last year but the enthusi- asm is there." But Caenen looks forward to going back to an intermural program to teach soccer to more players rather than try to make varsity athletes out of some players in a short eight-game schedule. "I have to rely on the minor system (WMSC)," said Caenen. " I Just can't see developing kids in eight games. The season's too short and there aren't enough kids involved." Caenen said he can work with about 90 players in intermural compared with about 20 in var- sity. And some players who've come up through the ranks of the WMSC don't play for Knights because they're committed to other teams. "There are about five kids who could turn this team around but they like to be left alone and I respect that," said Caenen.
