PAGE 24 â€" WATERLOO CHRONICLE, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2, 1986 Richard O‘Brien Chronicle Statff Kaarina Tulisalo won‘t take all the credit for the fact that her Waterloo collegiate Vikings have won their third Waterloo County high school championship in as many years. It‘s not that she isn‘t an experienced coach. She has nearly two decades of experience at WCI but this season and last her work load has been lightened somewhat because of the help she gets from some of her athletes. Club ‘A‘ gymnasts Robin Jalbert, a member of the Kâ€"W Gym Club, and Jill Gelinas, a member of the Cambridge Kips, have been a big help along with Michelle Kelley, who is an excellent vaulter in the intermediate category. ‘"Robin and Jill will spend the little free time they have coming into the gym and helping us with our routines," said Tulisalo. "And Michelle really goes out of her way to help everybody on the team, very often giving up her own practice time to help others." And Vikings discovered once again that every little bit helps as they finished first with 176.63 points at the Waterloo County meet held recently at the Kâ€"W Gym Club in Kitchener, Cameron Heights was second at 171.70 and Waterlooâ€"Oxford was third with 171.32. Intermediates include Jennifer Ion, who has had a particularly good season thus far, Chris Deutschlander and Kelley. Lyne Riseborough won intermediate bars and was second overall at the Waterloo County meet. Christy Mateyk was sixth in intermediate bars. Vikings showed strength in all three of the junior. intermediate and senior categories. The seniors are led by Val Smith, Marlo Amy, Gigi Ketterer and Sandy Read. â€" Nadine Letson led WCI‘s juniors as an allâ€"round winner. Last season she was injured in an earlier meet at Waterlooâ€"Oxford, something that happened to Hannah Woodley this year. Also included among the juniors are Anita Willims and Hankie Nguyan. At the Club °C‘ level Vikings‘ Heather Holden finished second to Becky Boyko of Cameron Heights. â€" â€" WCI will host the Central Western Ontario meet Thursday with warmups beginning at 9 a.m. Troop and Peel to WLU‘s men‘s athletics. Mary Jonker took a similar award for her role in the women‘s proâ€" gram. The Tuffy Knight award went to Rick Pajor and Clarke Eady was Unsung Hero.
