The International Women's Day Committee (lWD) of Kitchener-Waterloo is celebrating Inter- national Women's Day, March 8 by presenting a five-day series of events beginning Wed. Mar. 5, and running until Sun. Mar. 9. Highlights of this year's events include a dinner and lecture with Kathleen Shannon from Studio D of the National Film Board. Shannon will speak on Studio D: Starting the second decade' at 7: 30 p.m., Seminary room 101, Wilfrid Laurier University. This event is being sponsored by the Women's Studies Department of W.L.U. Also on March 6, the University of Waterloo's Women's Centre and Women's Commission are presenting, in concert, nationally-acclaimed folk and feminist singer Heather Bishop. The United Way of Kitchener- Waterloo and Area collected pledges totalling $1,544,766 in I985, three per cent above their target of $1.5 million, according to a financial report presented at the organization's 45th annual meeting held last Wednesday at the Waterloo Inn. While $24,834 in pledges were not collected. there was a surplus in the operating budget of $38,243.
