The concert takes place Fri., Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. in the KWCMS Music Room, 57 Young St. W., Waterâ€" 100. Kay, now of Toronto came to prominence in her midâ€"teens by winning the Canadian Music Compeâ€" titions National First Prize in 1974; the next year, she won a prize at the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition. After studying on various scholarships at the famed Juilliard School of Music where she completed her Master of Music degree, she also won the Banff Centre Concerto Auditions, 1983â€"85, and in 1985 the muchâ€"coveted St. Lawrence Award. Meanwhile she has performed widely: with the Calgary Symphony Orchestra and in solo and chamber recitals in Toronto, Banff, the University of Illinois, Norway, France, and Montreal. On her program are the Beethoven Sonata Op. 10, No. 3, the Schumann Sonata in G Major, and other works to be announced.
