In the final week of Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) competition for the women‘s varsity basketball team, Schaus was a standout on both offence and defence as Conestoga defeated Loyalist, 39â€" 33, and logt to St. Lawrence, 42â€" 41. . _ Against Loyalist, she led Conâ€" estoga scorers with 12 points, then added 11 more in the season finale. Schaus, 23, is a firstâ€"year student in the Early Childhood Education program at the Doon campus in Kitchener. The basketball Condors of Conâ€" estoga College are picking up steam in their drive for the upper reaches of the Ontario Athletic Association (OCAA) Tier 1 standings. Last Wednesday, Condors imâ€" proved their OCAA record to 4â€"3 with a thrilling homeâ€"court win over London‘s Fanshawe Falâ€" cons, 83â€"80. > Led by Les Robertson‘s hot shooting, Conestoga took a 46â€"41 lead at the end of a fast, seeâ€"saw first half. Robertson hit nine straight field goals, tallying 18 points in the first 20 minutes. Fanshawe pressed in the secâ€" ond half, but Conestoga‘s scoring balance and dominance on the boards kept the visitors at bay. Lennox Lewis was overpowerâ€" ing for Condors, grabbing 16 rebounds and hitting for 14 points. Robertson emerged as top scorer with 25, while Alex Yandryk added 16 and Mike Gobel 14. The hockey Condors continue to have trouble getting untracked as they dropped an 8â€"4 decision to Georgian College in Barrie last Wednesday.
