The Toronto Consort, the foremost early music ensemble in Canada, has been delighting audiences for over 10 years with its subscription concerts in Toronto and on tour. The group which was formed in l972 has been Moshe Hammer, concertmaster of the KWSO, and principal viola Daniel Bush will perform the soaring. lyrical Sinfonia Concertante by Mozart, with the Kitchener-Water- loo Symphony Orchestra, in the Masterpiece Series concerts, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, 8 pm. at The Centre In The Square, Kitchener. Hammer is not unfamiliar to KWSO audiences in the role of soloist. This past May he performed Beethoven's Violin Concerto to standing ovations at The Centre In The Square. Hammer, in fact, appears as soloist with many orchestras throughout the country and also performs with the Da Camera musicians to represent Canada for the Department of External Affairs in a tour of China. He joined the Symphony and the Canadian Chamber Ensemble in 1982. Bush became principal viola with the KWSO and a member of the CCE in 1980 after performing with the La Scala Opera in 1974-75 and with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra from 1977-80. With the Canadian Chamber Ensemble he has toured extensively throughout Canada, the U.S., Spain and South America. For this performance Bush will be using a bow that he constructed himself during his stay in Italy. This occasion also marks his first solo appearance with the KW Symphony in a Masterpiece Series Concert. Bush joins Hammer in Masterpiece Series at Centre in the Square heard frequently on international radio and television and has appeared as guest artist with the Toronto Symphony, the Montreal Symphony and the North German Radio Orchestra. They were featured at the gala opening celebrations at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto in September of 1982. _ The members of The Toronto Consort, all accomplished singers, also perform on a wide variety of medieval and renaissance instruments including flute, harp, recorder, krummhorn. shawm, vielle, viola da gamba, percussion and vir- ginals. r THE 1jitliTARp RESTAURANT “EVERYBODY!
