Chronicle Special ‘"Don‘t ever question ethics unless you have the evidence." The system of law is like a highly sophisticated game of chess, the defense counsel the knight, jumping back and forth, the prosecution counsel, the queen, all powerful aggressor, the judge, a staunch king, and the jury the pawns. Chronicle Special The late John Lennon once stated ‘the dream is over‘, in his highly controversial lyric entitled God. Lennon said outright he didn‘t believe in "Jesus, Zimmerman (Bob Dylan) or Beatles." Jagged Edge, now in its fourth week at the Odeon, is an elaborate demonstration of the system‘s legal class doctrine, interspersed with judicial politics and continuous muckâ€"raking among the Superior Court‘s top attorneys. The Beatles can never ‘let it be‘ again, but for four theatrical mopâ€"tops the dream is not over. The dream of the Beatles is very much alive in living in the guise of Beatlemania. One wonders if Lennon would believe in Beatlemania, which invaded Centre in the Square recently, yea, yea, yea. With its 16mm special effects projector spewing multiâ€"video screen imagery of the ‘60‘s and ©70‘s, from Martin Luther King, the Kennedy‘s, Angela Davis, and the Klu Klux Klan, the show‘s initial concept is a good source of learning and historic awareness. With the fab four standing in the dimly lit foreground, this method teaches the Beatles song, to the younger set and change in ‘60‘s generation All this legal data is skilfully interlocked in a typical homicidal puzzle of events, which turns out to be not so predictable. â€" o Jagged Edge begins as a ‘jagged‘ cut and dry case of murder .which any smartâ€"aleck movie sleuth could deduce. But as the story threads continue and unravel in different directions, the audience collectively racks their brains, right to the tension building closing seconds of this Richard Marquand (Return of the Jedi) thriller diller. *“V"‘ C & 2 ‘ 1@)" San Fransisco Times newspaper editor John Forrester, played with great caution and straâ€" tegem by Jeff Bridges, is the sole heir to all the CTC _ #/ â€" Audience driven wild in thriller Jagged Edge ®esi . walT icl00 ; Gh dd"’ vh!!!!! ‘“; s anm|a /A d d $ 2\ ,-“-* Now Open Sundays at 4:30 p.m. seconds of this Richard Marquand (Return Jagged Edge is full of twists and turns, as it Jedi) thriller diller. infernally stabs at your wits end, and will drive Fransisco Times newspaper editor John most amateur movie detectives to the point of ter, played with great caution and straâ€" murdering the director, as the killer is finally and by Jeff Bridges, is the sole heir to all the â€" thankfully unmasked. SUNDAY DINNER SPECIAL â€"â€" 8 oz. New York Strip Loin Steak Movie review $7.99 because of the amazing impact of this Liverpool phenomenon. â€" â€" e When you are used to the real thing, it‘s hard to listen to four ‘other men try and invent the same magic. _ But for older Beatle fans with a PHD in Merseybeat, Beatlemania ‘duzzent cut it.‘ When vou are used to the real thing, it‘s hard to Joe Pecorino as John Lennon is fine in harmony, but can‘t pull off a lengthy solo without sounding like he has permanent nasal conjestion. . Lenie Colacino (not exactly a Liverpool surname is it?) is nowhere near the likeness of the cute Beatle. His version of Paul McCartney looked like an outtake from the ©70‘s popâ€"schlop band the Cowâ€" sills. Richie Gomez as Ringo Starr sang Little Help From My Friends but can use more than a little help. Only Bob Miller who emulates George Harrison, seemed to have any resemblance or feeling at all for his personna. corporate and personal assets of his millionairess wife Page Forrester. â€" Lady Forrester is brutally murdered, in an opening scene depicting a bizarre killing ritual, involving a sixâ€"inch jagged edge hunting knife, a la Charles Manson style. It‘s a bloodbath of the messiest proportions, but suspenseful as Marâ€" quand leaves the crucial point of slaughter to the viewer‘s imagination. Forrester is obviously accused due to cirecumâ€" stantial evidence, and super woman lawyer Teddy Barnes (Glenn Close) comes out of retirement in the criminal case division to take the case. Bridges and Close make suspicious bedfellows, and the audience is forever wondering, did he or didn‘t he. Predictably, and conveniently, Close and Bridges have an affair, as Teddy Barnes falls madly in love with her client. o Close is at times too wholesome like her role in the Natural, and sometimes wooden, rather than spirited in her court scenes. Bridges is steady and smug, another notable film role.
