Hawks have Joel Levesque and Rod Cunningham returning on defence and many new players are trying out at the position, including Waterloo native Eric Calder. Richard O‘Brien Chronicle Staff Heading the list of departing defencemen is Rob Whistle, who was named the outstanding uni versity allâ€"Canadian at the end of the last Ontario Universities Athâ€" letic Association season. Hawks will also miss Jim Quinn, who has enrolled in mediâ€" cine at University of Western Ontario, and graduating defenâ€" cemen Ray Kremer and Dave Robson. "It‘ll be a bit of a problem replacing them," said Laurier coach Wayne Gowing. "We‘re going to struggle a bit back there and we‘re going to make misâ€" takes but 1 think there‘s a good nucleus of kids coming back and there‘s some good firstâ€"year prospects coming in so I think we‘ll be alright." Five forwards â€" Dave Beckon, Paul Roantree, Mike Gazzola, Kevin Casey and Tony Marâ€" tindale â€" will not be back, but Hawks have one popular centre new to their lineup. Exâ€"Siskin captain Terry McCutcheon joins Hawks after winning last season‘s Midwesâ€" tern Junior B Hockey League scoring championship and helpâ€" ing Siskins to two consecutive Ontario championships.
