PAGE 28 â€" WATERLOO CHRONICLE, WEDNESDAY. OCTOBER 9, 1985 Despite their 2â€"3 record, the varsity soccer squad of Conesâ€" toga College appears ready to make a run for an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) playoff berth. Certainly, Condors are standâ€" outs on defence â€" in two games last week they allowed only one goal, but that goal cost them a game. After a tight first half against George Brown College in Toronto on Tuesday, Huskies‘ Kevin Mavin struck a corner ki'crk that deflected off a Conestoga défendâ€" er for the game‘s lone goal. At home two nights later, Condor Lee Vincent put on topâ€" flight offensive display, scoring three times as the home team rolled to a 4â€"0 win over Georgian College of Barrie. Vincent‘s first score, at the 38 minute mark, gave Conestoga a 1â€"0 edge at the half. Condors hit the halfway mark in their schedule this week. Following Monday‘s away game against Sheridan, Conestoga reâ€" turns to Kitchener‘s Budd Park for a 4:00 p.m. start on Thursâ€" day, again facing Sheridan Bruins. _ It was a disappointing week in women‘s softball, as Condors lost two league contracts and a tourâ€" nament game. The next night in Toronto, Humber raced to a 3â€"1 firstâ€"inâ€" ning lead, and that score held up the rest of the way. Sheridan blanked Conestoga on Monday, 3â€"0, as Condors manâ€" aged only five hits in Brampton. All three runs came off starting pitcher Sue Blacklock in the third inning. Thursday‘s game against Cenâ€" tennial College in Toronto was the final OCAA contest for the women‘s softball team. Humber held period leads of 2â€"1 and 5â€"1, then withstood a later Condor rally. Cold and rainy weather on Saturday eventually forced canâ€" cellation of Conestoga‘s invitaâ€" tional women‘s softball tournaâ€" ment. Only two games were played, with Mohawk downing Loyalist by 7â€"1 and the Belleville squad then defeating Condors by §â€"5. Bright spot for Conestoga in the two losses was Reita Maltby‘s .450 performance at the plate. esn y.i_ . s & W’ . ie " u_ (Seagram Stadium, Seagram Dr., Waterloo) Thanksgiving Feature ?;_;5;‘, Pumpkin Pies <2.79 ~~~*~ Apple Strudel ‘1.59 Black Forest $7.50 Cakes _ 59.00 & ‘17.50 7: 00 p.m. â€" 1: 00 a.m. SOCCER NIGHT: â€" STUDENT NIGHT: SEAGRAM HAUS Friday, October 11th Proceeds in aid of Waterloo Soccer Complex Building Fund now NV*" Soccer Office: 886â€"1481 Oktoberfest Office: 576â€"0571 UW Federation of Students: 885â€"1211, ext. 2405 ADVANCE TICKETS NOW ON SALE AT In The World â€" Courtesy Air Canada, Xâ€"Press (Details of draw on ticket back) ($4.00) ($5.00) Music by PROSIT IV Kentucky Fried Chicken hronicle lassifieds Show Time 1:45 p.m. Each Day Kitchener, Waterloo, New Hamburg, Elmira, Cambridge & Guelph t FEATURING CANADA‘S SNOW BIRDS Bakeries Ltd. 702 King St. West, Kitchener â€" 742â€"1841 WIN A TRIP ANYWHERE AIR CANADA FLIES Kentucky NUGGETS Tickets available from: A"TASTE LIKE NO OTHER NUGGET â€" oct 42 %"" gLYING CLLpg OVEN FRESH n rco:; (E mroy6 Saturday, October 12th 886â€"2830 \‘5%6
