Coral Andrews . . Chronicle Special . Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, move over. + Another ‘best of the worst‘ movies of all time, has literally risen from the grave to take your coveted place. _ . Return of The Living Dead, now at Frederick Mall Cinema, is a virtually mindless, horror and maximum gore spoof, not advisable for viewing by any persons possessed of weaker constitutions. "Vi;\;!;"rs;'i)-éware, and whatever you do, do not eat beforeâ€" hand. _ It could have serious repercussions on your digestive sysâ€" tem. * _ The biggest joke of all in writer/director Dan O‘Bannon‘s (screen writer for Alien and Blue Thunder) cult piece is paying to see this visual mess.. . . Five minutes after the credits one wonders if he or she is cracking up by attempting to watch this movie. Intellectual discussion about Return of the Living Dead is simply out of the question. Return of the Living Dead is roughly, very roughly, based on George Romero‘s classic horror piece Night of the Living Dead and sequel Dawn of the Dead, which simply did not compare Romero‘s initial effort. Return of the Living Dead with a ‘brains, no pain‘ premise, is brimming with zombies, and punks set to a hardâ€"core movie score featuring 45 Grave (Partytime) The Damned (Dead Beat Dance) and many more musicians of this grisly calibre including the Fleshâ€"eaters and the Cramps. Buffet >aammp<>GSDâ€"<>Gmmpâ€"<> ED Movie review Set in the uneventful surroundings of Louisville, Kentucky, this story centres on the basement facility of the UNEEDA medical supplies warehouse, where the film‘s two prime characters Frank (James Karen) and Freddy (Tom Matâ€" thews) work. They are discussing the original Night Of the Living Dead, concerning a theory of altered events. At ‘grave central‘ some cliche punks when they aren‘t busy ‘making a statement‘ are partying amidst the tombstones. One punk trash, who fantasizes about being eaten alive actually gets her wish, when the party ignites into high gear and an army of unexpected guests arrives in the form of zombies, seeking painkillers. Their gruesome eating preference â€" human brains. The ‘rotters‘ actually talk about the pain of being dead. Sez one â€" "I can feel myself rot. (Eating brains) makes the pain go away." Sez another â€" "I can smell your brains." Sez the third after a human snack hearing a CB radio requesting if emergency back units are required â€" ‘"Send more paramedics." * _ Demonstrating his idea of the plot and a valid case in point to Freddy, Frank opens up a rotting can of worms and flesh with disastrous but hilarious consequences. S m'i‘-il; ;Es't"Jfâ€"i)éa"d occurs at the cemetery and neighboring mortuary. â€" c _ _ _ One of the funniest themes in this film is figuring out the zombies from the punks and vice versa. The best thing about the plot is the surprise ending which makes perfect sense out of nonsense.
